No non-invasive technique can precisely establish the true chemical composition of the contents of a sealed container. Only a physical sample of the the internal contents provides a 100% certain result of the hazard. Valent’s invasive technology offers that capability.
The Monica Remote Case Entry system is a superb system offering sampling and disposal options but Valent recognise there are situations where the operator just requires a rapid sample for a quick analysis. For this reason Valent developed the Midas disposable sampler, allowing access to the contents of a container using a very portable, very simple piece of equipment. It is small enough to fit in the palm of the hand and can be carried covertly if required. The system inserts a gas tight seal into the side wall of any metallic or plastic containers up to 8mm thick.
Midas can be used for all liquid and gas agents and TICs. The probe can be used for multiple samples. Most materials can be drilled in a few minutes. Once a sample has been obtained it can be analysed using Raman Spectroscopy for a rapid result.

Installs an integral seal as it drills
The equipment consists of a drilling probe and torque driver which is powered by a standard battery drill. As the operator drills the probe automatically seals the target. Once the wall of the container is penetrated the seal automatically tightens up against it giving a secure gas tight seal without any input from the user. The operator does not come into contact with the sample at any time.
A simple as drilling with a normal drill bit
The process is as simple as drilling with a normal drill bit. To ensure the seal is tightened up correctly the torque driver delivers the correct torque to the probe during the sealing process and can be reused with multiple probes. Once complete a sample can be drawn using a standard Valent sampling syringe.
